Welcome to Opportunity University, you’re first step toward creating and sustaining a momentum of good fortune in your career, corporate entrepreneurship ventures and workplace culture.   Opportunity University is about teaching and honing the skills and mindset that will make a company or individual relevant in the new economy.

During today’s changing times, we hear the terms “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” more than ever as organizations and individuals seek to adopt new principles to create and sustain business growth.   While these terms have reemerged as the “buzzwords” to solve today’s economic woes; they are terms that have been misunderstood for years.   For example:

Innovation:
Just because you designed a new product or service, does not mean you are innovative
Just because you implemented a new strategy, does not mean you are innovative
Just because you change the packaging of your brand, does not mean you are innovative
Entrepreneurship:
Just because you can make an independent decision, does not mean you are an entrepreneur
Just because you own a small business or started a company does not mean you are entrepreneurial
Just because you have been empowered to manage a budget or run a department or division of a company does not mean you are entrepreneurial
In our top business schools and university entrepreneurship programs - future leaders are being taught terms like “corporate entrepreneurship” and “innovation”. They sound good and mean well. In fact, several companies have adopted the basic principles of these management theories, yet do the individuals and organizations supporting such workplace cultures truly adopt the real essence of what these principles stand for?

In today’s marketplace, innovation and entrepreneurship are mandatory. If you study history, it teaches us that great entrepreneurs like Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Bill Gates and others – were INNOVATORS and created the roadmap for others in their industries to flourish. In simple terms, they saw the opportunities, they planned their ideas, they commercialized their visions and they shared it with others for the betterment of their respective industries. This defines the essence of an innovation and entrepreneurship.

This is where the principles of Opportunity University begin.
